The 85% Price Challenge

Send us your quote from a legacy legal invoice review platform. If CounselAudit is not at least 85% less expensive over the first year, we will give you 12 months of CounselAudit free.

Last updated: August 3, 2026

1. The claim we are standing behind

CounselAudit publishes its prices. Legacy legal invoice review and legal spend management platforms generally do not. They quote each buyer separately, and the quote usually carries implementation, configuration, and training fees on top of the licence.

Our claim is that for a typical in-house legal team, CounselAudit costs at least 85% less than one of those platforms over the first year. This page sets out exactly how we test that claim, and what you get if it fails.

2. What you get if we are wrong

12 consecutive months of CounselAudit Professional, at no charge, for the number of seats shown on your quote, up to a maximum of 3 seats.

At current list prices that is worth up to $7,164. The MCP connector add-on, advisory services, and any custom work are not included. There is no cash alternative and the award cannot be transferred, resold, or exchanged.

If your quote covers more than 3 seats, you still receive the full 12 months for 3 seats, and you may add further seats at list price.

3. What counts as proof

To submit a claim you need a written quote, order form, or renewal invoice issued by the vendor that meets all of the following:

  • It is addressed to your organization, and you are authorised to act on it.
  • It is dated within the 12 months before you submit your claim.
  • It shows the annual or total contract value, the term, and the number of users or seats covered.
  • It was issued by one of the vendors named below. This offer is limited to that list.

Qualifying vendors: Brightflag, Onit, Mitratech, TyMetrix 360, Thomson Reuters Legal Tracker, LexisNexis CounselLink, SimpleLegal, and Wolters Kluwer Legal Analytics (Legal-X). A quote from any other vendor does not qualify, however similar the product.

Screenshots, verbal quotes, list prices found on the internet, analyst estimates, and third-party benchmark reports do not qualify. We need a document the vendor gave you.

4. Before you send us anything, check your confidentiality obligations

Vendor quotes are often confidential. Do not send us a document you are contractually barred from sharing. It is your responsibility to check, and we will not ask you to breach an agreement to win a promotion.

If your quote is confidential, you can still enter. Your head of legal or your Chief Financial Officer can send us a signed written attestation on company letterhead stating the vendor name, the quote date, the first-year total cost, the contract term, and the seat count. It must be signed by one of those two officers, not delegated. We will treat that as qualifying proof and we will not ask to see the underlying document.

5. How we compare the two numbers

We compare first-year total cost against first-year total cost, at the seat count on your quote.

Your quoted cost is the sum of everything payable to that vendor in the first 12 months: licence or subscription fees, implementation, configuration, data migration, integration, training, and mandatory support or success fees. If the quote covers a multi-year term, we take the first-year portion. We use the quoted figure before any discount that is conditional on a longer term you have not signed.

Our cost is CounselAudit's published annual list price for the same number of seats on the Professional plan, billed annually. We compare at your full quoted seat count, not at the 3-seat cap that applies to the award. We add nothing for implementation, configuration, or training, because we do not charge for them.

Professional seats are priced in bands, and each band applies only to the seats that fall inside it:

  • Seats 1 to 5: $199 per seat per month
  • Seats 6 to 10: $99.50 per seat per month
  • Seats 11 and above: $49.75 per seat per month

Annual billing takes a further 15% off. A 12-seat team therefore pays for 5 seats at $199, 5 at $99.50, and 2 at $49.75, which is $1,592.00 per month at monthly rates, or $16,238.40 for the year prepaid.

Your claim succeeds, and you get the free year, if our cost comes to more than 15% of your quoted cost.

Worked example

A quote for 3 seats at $36,000 in licence fees plus a $12,000 implementation fee is a first-year cost of $48,000.

CounselAudit Professional for 3 seats billed annually is $6,089.40.

15% of $48,000 is $7,200. Our price sits below that, so on these numbers our claim holds and no award is made. Had the quote come in under $40,596, the claim would have failed and those 3 seats would get 12 months free.
